Hop Into Easter

Children gathered at St. Nicholas Church social hall to celebrate the upcoming Easter season.  Children enjoyed the story “Pick A Perfect Egg”by Patricia Toht.   After story time children colored eggs by the old-fashioned method of dipping them in dye, they used markers to make beautiful striped eggs and they dyed some with rice!

After egg dying children decorated and enjoyed Easter cut-out cookies and made “bird’s nests” to eat and enjoy at home.

The morning culminated with an Easter Egg roll. Due to the inclement weather children were divided into two teams who competed in  rolling an egg around an obstacle course. Children left with a basket of decorated eggs, yummy handmade treats and an Easter book of their very own!  All left with smiles!

We wish to thank Save-a-Lot for the donation of eggs for our Easter activity!

The book “Pick a Perfect Egg” is a new arrival at the library!  It is a great story for children with colorful illustrations! It is a lovely story that follows the egg from farm to the cook pot……dying with natural food colors and traditional methods ….and finally the anticipated Easter Egg Hunt on Easter morning!  A fun book for young readers!
