Happy Birthday America!

Our pre-K through grade 2 reading program celebrated America’s 250th birthday with stories, crafts, snacks, and activities.

Children listened to stories about historical sites in Fayette County as they joined Fionna Fayette on her journey across the county.

They also enjoyed Pete the Cat’s Family Road Trip, following Pete as he traveled across America to explore famous landmarks.

At the final session, children were treated to two stories,  What is America? and Why are There Stripes on the American Flag?

Children expressed their creativity by making patriotic wreaths, creating bald eagles—the symbol of America—and decorating patriotic birthday hats.

Patriotic snacks were enjoyed each night, and the children celebrated America with a birthday celebration complete with cupcakes.

The program concluded with outdoor games and play time in the library, giving children a memorable way to celebrate America’s birthday.
